History of Kappa Zeta Chapter

In the Spring of 1975, seven women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated had a captivating vision. These women were:
Linda Baltimore
Kim Bethea
Alva Epps Edwards
Tarol Fisher
Leatrice Johnson
Cheryl Sheffield
Michelle Young

They worked diligently to establish an Alpha Kappa Alpha presence on the campus of Clarion State College. On February 14, 1976, KAPPA ZETA CHAPTER was born. Kappa Zeta was the 236th undergraduate chapter and approximately the 495th chapter founded in the sorority as a whole. There have been a total of 87 young women who have been transformed into beautiful pearls of Alpha Kappa Alpha through Kappa Zeta Chapter.

In 1997, Kappa Zeta was threatened with deactivation as she was in her third year on Clarion University's campus without any new members. With the help of Soror Cynthia H. Critten, Kappa Zeta was resurrected with the birth of six new members in the Spring of 1997. These women were:
Barbara Gaines
Tanganyika Mathews
Lisa Robinson
Kizzy Enoch
Sherrell Ganges
Sana Heath-El

They restored Kappa Zeta and placed Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated at the head of Greekdom on the campus of Clarion University of Pennsylvania. From 1976 to the present, The Kaptivating Kappa Zeta Chapter has always and will continue to reach new heights in community service and programming.
